From May to August UNB opens their residence up like a hotel. This is not your everyday student residence. The Dr. Colin B. Mackay Residence Suites, opened in July of 2003, offers 170 double beds in the form of spacious two-bedroom suites.

Suites include two bedrooms, a kitchenette complete with microwave and fridge, and private three-piece bath. Each bedroom is furnished with a double bed, dresser, desk, closet and private phone with free local calling.

At the present, suites on the 3rd floor of the residence are equipped with TV's (the rest should be done by the time the wedding comes around....be sure to request 3rd floor to guarantee you get TV in your room if you want it).


Residence amenities include snack and beverage vending, furnished TV rooms and study lounges, a pantry/kitchen on the Lobby level equipped with stoves, a fridge and cafe seating and coin operated laundry facilities. The Residence Suites is non-smoking and security locked.

Hotel Front Desk is located in the Sir James Dunn Residence. Front Desk hours are:

weekdays: 7:30am - 10:00pm
weekends: 8:00am - 10:00pm

Check in time officially begins at 3:00pm. If you arrive earlier we cannot guarantee your room will be ready. If you plan to arrive after the Front Desk is closed please let us know and we will make arrangements to give your key to UNB Saint John's 24 hour Security staff. You can pick your key up at the Security Desk in the G. Forbes Elliot Athletic Centre.

Check out time is at 11:30am. Room keys are electronic and are programmed to stop working at check out time on your day of departure.

Payment for your room is due at check in. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, debit and cash. Personal cheques not accepted.

Athletics Facilities: The Jeux Canada Games Stadium features a 400-metre track and a grass playing field. The track surface is available to the general public for walking/running from dawn until dusk each day. The G. Forbes Elliott Athletics Centre features a fitness room and a table tennis room. The gymnasium has a new state-of-the art floor and allows users to play everything from soccer to badminton, all at the same time. Day passes are available at the rate of $5/day and allow users full access to the facility (availability may be subject to schedule of events). UNB Saint John also has a fitness and nature trail located behind the Athletics Centre that extends through the university’s wooded park area onto Kennebecasis Drive, just minutes from the Royal Kennebecasis Yacht Club or Tucker Park & Beach, in case you are interested in conditioned jogging, mountain biking or simply want to take a leisurely stroll. Access to the trail is located near the Residence.

Parking: Visitors to campus, Monday to Friday, can pay for parking at the meters located in the Oland Hall parking lot, or purchase a daily parking pass for $3.00 at the pass dispenser just inside the Alumni Gates. Overnight guests are not charged for parking as long as their vehicle is in one of the Residence parking lots. Any vehicles parked in a reserved space will be ticketed by Campus Security.

Safety and Security: The campus security office is located in the main foyer of the G. Forbes Elliot Athletics Centre. They can be reached 24 hours at 648-5755, or by pressing the Security button on any campus payphone.
